There is no doubt that Cindy Sherman is a great artist who bravely pursued the truth and beliefs of her art through her special and ingenious way of expressions. After watching the documentary, I think it assumes that Cindy Sherman was the brave model of feminists in U.S. at that time period.
There is no doubt that Cindy Sherman is a great artist who bravely pursued the truth and beliefs of her art through her special and ingenious way of expressions. After watching the documentary, I think it assumes that Cindy Sherman was the brave model of feminists in U.S. at that time period.
The freedom was depicted through out the whole movie. The studio she worked, the photos she took, the photos she was taken and the conversation style she insisted all built up the great sense of freedom which is the spirit of art from my perspective. Nobody can tell her what is right to do because there is no absolute right on this planet. Everybody actually has his or her own thoughts, ideas, values and methods to experience the world. Thus, Cindy Sherman bravely thought and created her works with the strong atmosphere of freedom that she changed her persona into her works so quickly and swiftly. She also managed her styles so perfect that every emotion was so impressive and meaningful. She made a real good model for the 1970s New York's feminists because of her performance on art by setting off different trends, creating new sense of femininity, liberating the pornography in someway and showing the kindness to the nature because she kept a parrot as pet which was super surprising for me especially the end of the documentary showed their unbelievable relationship between each other.
The documentary was well organized. It set out the storyline smoothly as I watching it with really unforgettable experience and cognition. It strengthened my ideology about art again that there is no art where there is no freedom. Thanks to this documentary, it was the first complete documentary about a person that I have ever watched in my life. As the semester goes, I believe I will learn more influential artist like Cindy Sherman, refine more on my definition of art and create more delicate art works.
Georges Rousse Reflection Paper

The work of Georges Rousse is undoubtably impressive. He is the annihilator of segments and space. He can use the one fix angle of a space to form his art. Before the final work is done, he precisely draw the corresponding section in the room in order to reassemble the section into new patterns. The requirements for the measure and coloring are very strict. However, he made not only one successful work but more complicated ones.
I like the garage with red strips one because I think it is cool. I was looking at it very carefully because I was trying to find some where he didn't paint well so it will bring inharmony to the whole work but I failed. He managed the work very well that it looks like impossible magic which drives me crazy. I like to see perfect things because they can sooth me but I also don't like it because perfect things are so fragile. The conflict will make me uncomfortable. So it depends on the time when I appreciate an art work.
I like his idea that give no respect to the space difference. If there is not a flat area, he will make one by adding color clusters to mislead the audience. Though angry by being tricked, people finally will praise his ingenious idea of operation.
Waste Land Reflection Paper

First please let me apologize for seeing the scar of our mother planet Earth. I was totally shocked by the largest landfill place in Brazil. Those workers who are paid with only $25 a day are using their bare hands to sort the trash out to make profits. They deserve everyone's respect.
I also was amazed by the technique of Vic Muniz that he photographed several workers in the land fill place and assemble the pictures by laying all kinds of trash to generate the frame. The best moment in the documentary is when workers' photos are finished with the things they deal with daily.
Vic Muniz successfully made the Jardim Gramacho well known after his works are made public. Thanks to him, the workers of Jardim Gramacho will have better working conditions and more passion to do their jobs. On the other hand, this documentary illustrated how influential human can be to the environment we all live in. I will start from my self by sorting out the trash carefully and obligatorily. Meanwhile, thanks again for those real heroes who fight relentlessly with the dirtiest and least valuable things. I think this documentary not only shows people how the nature was destroyed by us but also raises the awareness that environmental protection is urgently needed.
